Higashi-hennazaki Cape

Updated on : June 19, 2009

One of the 100 most beautiful spots in Japan's urban parks. A cape with beautiful flowers and seas all four seasons.

Included in the 100 most scenic spots in Japan’s urban parks, beautiful Higashi-hennazaki Cape juts out from the eastern tip of Miyako Island 2 kilometers into the sea and is more than 200 meters wide. On the right, the Pacific Ocean; on the left, the East China Sea. The sight of the waves crashing against the cliffs is very impressive, a very masculine scene. There is a nice walking path around the point. Swaths of rare osteomeles subrotunda plants spread a carpet of green. Among them, trumpet lilies and evening primrose bloom in profusion in season.
