The 21st Ginowan Wheelchair Marathon

December 13, 2009 Even able-bodied people can compete with wheelchair runners.

A wheelchair marathon starting and finishing at the Kankai Gate of Ginowan City Seaside Park. Participants have 3 categories to choose from (1.5 km trim marathon, 5 km, and half marathon), and the relatively flat course allows wheelchairs to participate with ease. Able-bodied runners can also compete in wheelchairs, and they often do with family members and friends. The event aims to convey the important message of running, sweating and living together. Volunteer turnout is usually triple the number of participants.
