The Naha Marathon is one of Japan's largest citizens' marathons, with over 20,000 runners and joggers participating every year. It is a full 42.195km marathon, starting and finishing at the Asahibashi area in Naha City, and the mid-point is at the Peace Memorial Museum in Itoman City. Competitors have a time limit of 6 hours to finish the race, as the gallery warmly cheers on from the roadside, some even performing Eisa dance and other performing arts. Without question one of Okinawa's premier sporting events, as many top athletes from mainland Japan and overseas come to the prefecture to participate in the event.
