The beautiful color of pink brightening the moss green mountains in Okinawa is a visible sign of spring making its way to the island. In this case, the color pink refers to the beautiful flowering cherry trees in bloom.
Known as the earliest to blossom in Japan, this variety of cherry tree (Prunus campanulata Maxim.) primarily coming from Taiwan or southern China, is commonly called the Taiwan cherry.
