The Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau (OCVB) was formed in April 1996 as the single only “public-private integrated" parent organization in Okinawa for promoting tourism throughout the prefecture to re-establish a strong and efficient system of tourism promotion in Okinawa by unifying and integrating the tourism and convention fields. Since its formation, in order to respond to the diversified travel trends among the Japanese and fierce competition, etc. with domestic and overseas regions which have advanced tourism industries, OCVB has contributed to the further activation of a new tourism/resort industry by deploying domestic and overseas PR projects to attract tourists, promoting projects to establish a system for receiving visitors, developing human resources in tourism/resort related industries, and holding a wide variety of events.
